Description

Freeform really starts to shine when you collaborate with other people. Working simultaneously on the same Board at the same time means you can rapidly prototype, quickly map out and speedily design your next big project. Invite other users using this easy-to-follow tutorial and ensure they have the right access to your Boards. Here’s how it works.

Transcript

Freeform really comes into its own when you start collaborating with other users – whether that’s students in your class or perhaps it’s friends and family working on a shared Board together.

It means that everyone can be working on the same page at the same time, doing the same thing.

It’s really easy to set up as well, in fact all you need to do is press the Share button in the top right corner.

From here you’ve got a couple of options that are hidden behind this link: you can choose whether or not you want to have only named contacts using your board (so that’s done by their iCloud account) or you can share it to anyone with the link.

I’m going to do this one because it makes it slightly easier for my situation.

You can also choose if the recipient is going to have read and write access (so that means they can make changes and adjustments to your board) or if they can view it only (so you can only see what you’ve done and nothing else).

And then you can choose how you want to invite those people into your board.

You can send it via iMessage, or by email, or using any number of different apps.

For me I’m simply going to Copy the link tap it into my Mail message and then send it off.

Now, at the time of recording I haven’t got a second device running the iOS 16.2 beta or Mac OS Venture beta so I can’t show you collaboration in real time at the moment, but what will happen is you can click onto the Collaboration menu that’s now appeared in the top toolbar.

You can see who’s working on the board, who’s been invited to the board, and you can choose to show or hide the participants cursors.

That means when they’re working on something a little box will show up around it with their name and you know who’s doing what on your board.

In the final video of this series we’ll look at how to Export as a PDF and how to save it as a template to use for other Boards in the future.

I’ll see you there in a moment.
